If I can think of anyone that I can say was my mentor was my grandfather. Thomas Curtis Rushin. He was a slum lord but his profession was a pullman for Southern Railroad. He use to say to me "in order to have financial freedom was to create something. Invent something that can be useful for people to use.
He came up with the train headrest to make it comfortable when people fall asleep. He had his idea patent, however it was not approve because his idea was similar to a patient from Germany. He was interviewed my Essence magazine in 1958. He was a very handsome black man. I really miss talking to him. Thank you granddad for being so good to the family.
